Mezame Sencha Japanese Green Tea
Sencha is a steamed and rolled Japanese green tea leaf traditionally consumed for its health benefits and as a refreshing drink that brings people together, whether at home or in social gatherings. Sencha is made from carefully grown and steamed tea leaves, reflecting the Japanese appreciation for natural, wholesome foods.
Sencha is made by harvesting young tea leaves in early spring and immediately steaming them to preserve their fresh, grassy flavor. Deep steaming process (fukamushi) is used for a richer, smoother taste. After steaming, the leaves are rolled to release their natural juices and dried to lock in flavor.
Mezame sencha is sourced from Kagoshima in the Kyushu island of Japan, known for the fertile soils packed with higher levels of nitrogen. Volcanic activity in Kyushu ensures a mineral-rich and fertile soil, ideal for growing the best matcha in the world.
