Mezame Hojicha Japanese Green Tea Leaves

Hojicha is a roasted Japanese green tea known for its naturally low caffeine, warm toasted aroma, and smooth, earthy flavour. It’s the tea people in Japan turn to when they want deep comfort without the jitters - calming, cozy, and easy on the palate.

Hojicha is made by taking steamed green tea and slowly roasting them at high temperatures. This roasting process transforms the leaves from bright green to a rich chestnut brown, creating a nutty, caramel-like aroma and removing most of the caffeine. The result is a cup that’s round, mellow, and deeply soothing.

Mezame Hojicha is sourced from Kagoshima in Kyushu - Japan’s volcanic tea-growing region known for its nutrient-dense soils and clean flavour profiles. The leaves are roasted in small batches to ensure an even, balanced aroma with no bitterness. Smooth, warm, and aromatic, our Hojicha is the perfect evening tea or a grounding companion to your daily routine.

  • Naturally low in caffeine; perfect for evenings & relaxation
    - Supports digestion & is kind to the stomach
    - Calming & grounding; ideal for stress relief
    - A cozy pick-me-up with a roasted, nutty flavor
  • - Harvested in Kagoshima, Japan, renowned for fertile volcanic soil
    - Steamed, rolled and roasted in the traditional Japanese style
    - Single Origin – JAS Certified Organic (Japanese Agricultural Standards)
  • - Heat 150 mL water until just before boiling point. Boiling the water may reduce the delicate flavours
    - Add 1 tsp of genmaicha green tea into the hot water and let it sit for 1-2 minutes
    - Strain the brewed piping hot genmaicha green tea into a cup and enjoy
  • - Please consult your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, lactating or undergoing a medical treatment for any condition
    - Genmaicha, just like any tea and coffee, contains tiny amounts of tannin, which "may" reduce iron absorption. Avoid consuming sencha closer to meals and iron-rich foods
